Former University of Pittsburgh Pre-Doctoral Trainee, Mini E. Jacob, receives the Health Science Research Award at the Gerontological Society of America’s 68th Annual Scientific Meeting. Dr. Jacob won the award for her work done as part of her PhD dissertation under the guidance of Dr. Anne B. Newman. Her manuscript, “Can Late-Life Lifestyles Impact End-of-Life Morbidity?”, used data from the Cardiovascular Health Study and examined associations between lifestyle factors in late life and hospital days in the last 5 years of life among participants who had died. Dr. Jacob’s current affiliations are VA Boston Healthcare System, Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Public Health.
